Straight Ballin'

posted on: Friday, December 30, 2011

I'm going to Boise next week to hang out with the realest "baller" I know. She is going to show me how to really work balls (because she's a pro) but we're mostly going to have ridiculous fun together.
I've been practicing, and practicing, and practicing some more. And I've been having a blast doing it. Who knows, maybe ballin' and shot callin' are in my cards after all.

Nevermind my absence for the last two weeks (oops! I was recovering from holiday "cheer"), let's talk about the seriously awesome holiday! It's Thursday, and I'm pretty sure I haven't stopped eating since LAST Thursday. No joke. Planet Fitness, here I come.

This was the first year that I didn't wake to the Christmas comforts of my Mama's home and I was kind of excited for my very first Christmas morning in my little itty bitty house. Honey invited his brother over and the three of us (and Frankie too) woke up early to fresh brewed coffee and Samoan sweet rolls, a television yulelog and Christmas classics, plus gifts under our tree. It was magical. Not to mention, Santa thought I'd been nice enough all year to deserve an iPhone 4S. I sure fooled him.

It was everything it should've been. Lots of food, loads of laughter and people we love. I hope yours was special too.

Thursday's Threads: Holiday Fever

posted on: Thursday, December 15, 2011

I am so excited for Christmas, I can hardly contain myself!
I've been working harder than a North Pole elf and I'm in need of a good break. It's time to enjoy good company, delicious food and perhaps some self-indulgent shopping.
Starting with these...
Holiday Fever

In other news, the wood flooring in my apartment has warped because of a water main break and it seems like there is a monster living below us who is trying to break his way out. Basically, it's bad, and I'm hoping Santa sends a few elves to come fix it so I don't have to keep throwing all of my body weight into my front door in order to close it.

Happy Holidays!

Wish {out loud}

If you have two minutes and nine seconds (and I know you do because you wouldn't be here in the first place if you weren't bored) then please press play and watch the video below.
Today, I'm linking up with fellow bloggers and wishing out loud for peace in Congo.
Yes, I know, it's a tall order, but when I learned about Falling Whistles I knew I wanted to be a part of this protest and become a whistleblower for peace.
What began as a traveler's journal has now become a monumental movement for change and peace in the most war-stricken land in the world, and we can do something to try to make a difference in the lives of those who have been affected.
So, please, press play and learn about how you can help educate others and become an advocate for peace in Congo and throughout the rest of the world.

Go here to learn more, get your whistle and become a whistleblower for peace.

And a very special thanks to RobinAshley and Krystina for inviting me to take part in such a worthwhile link-up.

Down for Brown

What can I say, I've got a thing for vintage Chanel studs. I've also been drooling over that Michael Kors watch all year (and every La Mer watch as well). And let's face it, no wardrobe is complete without some good animal print flats.
I hope Honey's been on the blog lately. I'm making his Christmas shopping way too easy.

tuning up and trimming down?

It's currently 19 degrees outside. No, that is not a joke.
I sure wish it was.

Once upon a time, my Nike's and I were two peas in a pod. This resulted in rockin' abs and some serious glutes. Then I switched over to Asics, and as a runner, this meant serious business. But I guess the pressure of real running shoes got to me because now, a few seasons later, my Asics are looking shiny and new when they should be tattered and torn.

Okay fine, I've just been totally lazy. For months.
I don't know how this has happened or where the time has gone.

My rockin' abs are not so rockin' anymore and who said something about serious glutes? Not me.
So, I've got to get a head start on my New Year's Resolutions. These Asics are about to get 'tore up from the floor up'. In a good way. Now we're talkin' business.

Bring it on, 19 degrees. Nothing is going to get in this [slow] runner's way (but does anyone have a thermal body suit I could borrow?).
Oh, geeze. Wish me luck. I need it...

...because the frigid cold isn't the only thing standing in my way...

My inner domestic Goddess has been busy in the kitchen this week and Honey's been busy cleaning up all of "her" crazy messes.

You'd think "she'd" be a bit more supportive of the reunion with my running shoes, but whatever, it is the holidays, and I can't deny myself the things I love most about the holidays- food. Figures.

So, here's to 'running to eat'. No run is impossible when I'm visualizing banana bread at my finish line.
