Burn One More Down...

Herb's a gift, from the earth
And what's from the earth is of the greatest worth
So before you knock it, try it first
Oh, you'll see it's a blessing and it's not a curse
If you don't like my fire, then don't come around
Cause I'm gonna burn one down.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

posted on: Wednesday, April 1, 2009

April 1st is always a favorite. Not only is it April Fools Day, but it also happens to be my birthday.
I enjoyed MY day this year, turning 25 is a big milestone, and I was touched by the many facebook birthday wishes that graced my wall, the well wishing text messages that flooded my inbox, and even an offer for lunch. I have great friends...

HA!
But I am much smarter than them!

April Fools!...

April 1st ended up being a better day than usual this year for it is NOT in fact my birthday!

So, the joke is on you my friends. I ended the day feeling great not only because I got a "free" birthday, but because I got to lie all day and not feel guilty about it.
Next year will be bigger and better. My prankster mind is already brewing up brilliant ideas.

Beware.

Oh... and I'm also not 25... yet. Ha! Gotchya again!

25 Things About Me

posted on: Tuesday, February 3, 2009

1. I value my time alone above many other things. I love to be around people but I regularly require time to spend with myself and regenerate.

2. I love to read. In the right weather, a beautiful view, and delicious snacks I could do it all day long and never stop.

3. I fall hard for the ones that are wrong for every girl, especially me. It's statistically proven.

4. I want to be a winner. I really hate losing. Anything.

5. I rocked an afro until I was 5. Naturally.

6. I'm fiercely loyal until I feel betrayed.

7. I rely too much on my intuition although it's hardly ever failed me.

8. I make decisions based on my feelings and rarely think through them until afterwards. This method hasn't always been successful but its definitely been fun.

9. I'm not really big on going to see movies all the time. I'll see one here and there, and if it's a good one, I can easily get into it. Although, if I've only seen it once, chances are I've already forgotten it.

10. My heart belongs to music. It's an addiction unlike any drug I've ever tried and I won't tell you what those are.

11. Along with that, I secretly dream of becoming an A&R Rep and spending the rest of my life discovering extraordinary musical talent.

12. I'm also a lyrical database. I know the words to just about every song I hear and if I don't I'm damn good at guessing. This also applies to rap songs.

13. I love my family so unconditionally and the thought of being without them used to give me severe anxiety. Of course, now sometimes the thought of being with them does too.

14. Sometimes I think I can read minds. Actually, I'm just really good at understanding people and its not difficult for me to pick up on how others are feeling. I often surprise myself.

15. I'm a true product of southern California. I really despise cold winters. I just wasn't built for it.

16. I find a good cry to be cleansing and rejuvenating and take advantage of that often.

17. I'm very passionate about what I care about. That's worked both negatively and positively for me but I like being that way.

18. I have an incredibly intense temper but few have seen it and few ever will.

19. I'm a feeler and I naturally investigate life at a deep emotional level. Because of that, I can be painfully hurt so I prefer to stay in control of my relationships although I don't always.

20. My astrological sign is connected to the very roots of my sex drive. Enough said.

21. I love to run. It's one of my favorite forms of my many self-medicating methods.

22. I love being a brunette.

23. I'm a list maker and do significantly better and get more done that way.

24. I'm lost without google or my BlackBerry. I google every question that comes to mind at any time during any day.

25.Therefore, I'm full of useless and ridiculous facts such as, men fart an average of 17 times per day, and the last time American green cards were actually green was in 1964.

My Life List Pt. 1

posted on: Tuesday, January 6, 2009

Naturally, I'm a dreamer. Thankfully, I was also born to one. My mother is a dreamer and despite many odds, she's accomplished so many of her lifetime dreams and goals. At a young age, she taught me to cut out pictures of dreams that I want to see and do during my lifetime from magazines. From those pictures, we created our first "Dream Book" and filled the book with pictures and words of things we'd hoped to someday see, do, or have. Years later, I can now look at that first dream book that we created and I can put a check mark next to many of those pictures. Since then, I've made many dream books. Gratefully, I still have too many dreams. Many will be accomplished, and others may not be, but I cannot imagine a life void of dreams and goals. So here are a few. There will be many more to come.

10 Reasons I Appreciate Winter

posted on: Friday, December 26, 2008

1. I can cry over anything and blame it on seasonal depression.

2. Electric blankets... on high.

3. My razors last longer but it's definitely not because my leg hairs grow slower.

4. No mosquitoes.

5. Snowy conditions make a great excuse for calling into work, school, and/or life.

6. Hot chocolate and peppermint schnapps.  100 proof.

7. Everyone loves a colorful Christmas sweater.

8. The end of one year and beginning of the next.

9. Turkey, cranberry relish, mashed potatoes, yams, stuffing, corn, green beans, homemade rolls, pies, baked alaska, and of course... Martinelli's.

10. Toe socks.

But the greatest thing about winter is that with each passing day I'm one day closer to a more comfortable season.  Hurry your ass up, Summertime.
